If you're a regular fresh picked whimsy reader, you know i love me some vintage, salvaged, upcycled finds. Remember this and this and this...??? It's the inspiration behind this...
{print available in the shop}
i come by it naturally, as i was raised by a garage sale loving mom. My sister Susan has the bug, too and we've had a lot of fun this spring and summer hitting some barn sales and antique stores.
We stopped by our Carmel Old Town Antique Mall about a month ago and spied this disco awesomeness...a mirrored saddle! Now, that is a rhinestone cowboy!
Mark and i stopped in to the same store last weekend and it was gone! i want to party with the new owner of that puppy! Fabulous!
Then around the corner we spied these pioneer bonnets. If you were a child of the 70's like me...you know these would have been perfect when playing "Little House on the Prairie"! We couldn't resist.
Mark and I found these at the Indie Arts & Vintage Marketplace last weekend...
yes...i'm lucky that my guy likes to go on these vintage shopping trips. He's still learning about all this stuff, but he's a good sport. Sometimes he thinks i'm a little crazy when i show him something old and worn that i love, but he almost always "gets it" after i explain why i love it. In fact, i fell in love with this pair of chairs last weekend but i just couldn't figure out where i would have room to put them. Aren't they fun!? So Mad Men, right?!
He stood there with me forever trying to figure it out...he wanted me to have them. Ultimately, we walked away...but it was just the fact that he was willing and encouraging...it was so sweet. I'm kicking myself now for not buying them. i literally cannot get them out of my head. I'm secretly hoping to find them at the next event for this show. ugh. if they're there...then it was meant to be.
My mom and I scored these goodies recently at the Robin Eye Country Flea Market...
i love that bowling pin! He now resides on my fireplace hearth...
and that homemade red tool caddy that was filled with nails and screws...
has been repurposed for my studio...
I love a good estate sale! I'm so bummed with myself that I didn't stop at the Indie Arts & Vintage Marketplace. I was in town for the state fair & saw the signs but decided against it. Oh well!
Looks like you had some great finds!!
