Remember these guys?
Their mama and daddy have been nesting in our neighborhood for the past 3 years now and these sweet owlettes were perched so sweetly above our driveway last spring. They are barred owls. I blogged about them a few years back here. They are the inspiration behind this new fella in my shop!
I get all sorts of suggestions for subjects of my art. People give me quotes, words and ideas for me to paint or draw. Last fall at Holiday Mart, the number one request of my customers was owls. I know they are very trendy. I see them everywhere on etsy. They are beautiful creatures and i definitely took note of the requests. Our neighborhood owls resurfaced about a month ago. They hoot back and forth mornings and evenings. We love them. All of our neighbors love them, too. No sign of babies yet, but we're keeping our fingers crossed and our binoculars nearby. So, i finally got my sketchbook out and this guy flew out of my pencil. I think the daily rain we've been receiving prompted me to pull out the watercolors.
Hoping to see the sun later today...and our owls! ♥
