I'm back! I took a break from the blog to enjoy Spring Break with my family. We had such a great week. The weather here in Indy was absolutely perfect. In fact, i think we are in denial that it's actually only early April. If you didn't know any better, you'd swear it was summer here! We spent most of the week at home but whisked the kiddos away for a whirlwind getaway to Chicago to wrap up their break. It was awesome!
They were shocked to see Lake Michigan...it's so huge, it looks like the ocean. We spent the first day at the Museum of Science and Industry.
This place is incredible. The last time i was there, was back in middle school on a field trip. Mark and the kids had never been. We had so much fun.
That's a real 727 jet hanging from the ceiling! Below it was the biggest train layout i've ever seen. G was in heaven. Lots of trains at this museum. He didn't want to leave. We'll be back for sure.
K wanted me to take a picture of this boy's hair...a jersey shore moron wannabe...it was actually a little scary how many guys we saw with this 'do all over the city...we just laughed everytime we saw one.
This city is so alive...24/7...it's sensory overload...but i love it.
Our hotel overlooked the Magnificent Mile. Incredible stores everywhere. Of course, we had to stop at the Lego Store...another highlight for G...
Had to snap this one outside of the Lucky store...they both wore lucky t-shirts...without realizing it.
After dinner at a little Italian corner cafe, we walked along Michigan Ave. and stopped for ice cream at Ghiradelli...mmmmm
Then, stopped in to the Apple Store
where everyone was crowding the iPad displays...including my techies...
Of course, i had to pull up fresh picked whimsy on one of the huge monitors. A girl can dream...
The next day we spent just exploring the city. Lots of firsts for the kids to experience. {the taxis, the crowds, the sidewalk performers, the homeless (one of which told them to stay in school and always listen to their parents!), the pigeons, the traffic} They were wide-eyed and loving every minute of it.
We went to Millenium Park and saw The Bean...
Went by the Willis Tower {formerly the Sears Tower...which, by the way, i will always call it}
It looked like there were window washers way up there at the top, until i zoomed in with the camera and realized it was that crazy Skydeck we'd been hearing about. Those are clear bottom and sided observation decks! CRAZY!!!!
We had dinner at Gino's East. They're famous for authentic deep dish Chicago pizza. It's so yummy.
Every surface in Gino's is covered in graffiti...way cool.
Nahhhhhh....i know she lives here, but i don't think so...
I loved this piece of art...which is also covered in graffiti.
Upon closer inspection, you can see that it's made of forks and spoons and dishes...love it!
Thank you, Chicago...we had a fabulous time. We can't wait to go back!
xo, The McDonough's

Oh I like Chicago. Sears Towers will always be just that!
I would have liked to have spent more time there. My husband's job started there in the old days!!
The view behind your family is always the one on Fox News when they interview from Chicago. Maybe you were on the news and didn't know it!!
