I knew from a very early age that i wanted to be a mom. I never really had any career aspirations. When it came time to start thinking about college, i knew i wanted to go, but not because i couldn't wait to be a career girl. Lucky for me, i fell in love with Mark in the fall of our freshman year at Purdue. We married one month after graduation and three years later, we became parents. We are blessed with three amazing and loving children who are blossoming into three pretty phenomenal people. {That's an illustration of me and my babies at the top of this entry} Life as a mother has taught me how to be more thankful, compassionate, loving and selfless. It has also taught me to see my own mother in a different, more appreciative light.
This is me and my mother in 1973.
I now can appreciate the sacrifices, the flexibility, the heartaches and the joy she felt for me and my sisters. She was a hands-on, stay-at-home, field-trippin', PTA president, halloween costume-making, car-pooling, hugs and kisses kind of Mom! And...i grew up wanting to be just like her!
When I married Mark, i got the most amazing Mother-in-love (mother-in-law just doesn't fit her). She is one of a kind and the most kind and warm person i know. I call her 'Muz' because that's what Mark and his brother, Ed, call her and when we got engaged, she asked me to call her that, too. I know not all girls are crazy about their mother-in-laws, but i can honestly say, I hit the jackpot when i 'got' her. I lover her very much.
This is Ed, Muz and Mark.
My Mother's Day celebration began on Friday, when I went to G's school for a special Mother's Day Spa in his classroom. He pampered me by giving me a massage, brushing my hair and painting my toes and fingers! The kids sang "you are my sunshine" to us and had a breakfast buffet prepared by their Dads! It was so sweet.
This morning, along with a yummy breakfast made by Mark, and the extra bonus of sleeping in, I received these sweet homemade cards:
I made these watercolor 8x10s for my mothers on this Mother's Day.
So, thanks, Mom and Muz for all that you do and have done over the years. And...Mother's Day for me, wouldn't be possible, if it weren't for my incredible husband, Mark. Thank you for our babies!
The very warmest wishes to all Moms on this very special day!

Happy Mother's Day to you too. You put all other "children" to shame with your wonderful tribute to your "moms". They too are truely blessed to have you as a daughter!
