It's going to be an exciting week for whimsy studios! I've got several new products that will make their debut in the etsy shop. This is the first:
These are called ACEO's. It stands for: Art Cards, Editions and Originals. This is a relatively new (last 2 years) collectible. It was started by an artist who had a store on e-bay. She challenged other artists to create baseball card sized art. There are no rules other than the size of the ACEO: 2.5 x 3.5 inches. Any materials and mediums can be used (paint, pencil, fabric, glitter, buttons, etc.). Some are original works of art created directly on the cards and others are "editions" or prints of original works. The idea was to create, trade and collect these miniature works of art for an affordable price. The craze of creating and collecting these has definitely caught on. I used prints of some of my original works to make these ACEO's and they will be in my etsy shop later today.
My sister, Kim, has been working on making some homemade greeting cards. She LOVES to collage and wants to contribute to whimsy studios. So, we got together and brainstormed some ideas and these will be up in the shop this week, too.
As I mentioned a week or so ago, my mom and i have been collaborating, too. The first of those creations will be premiering, as well!
Yesterday we took the kids to our school playground for a little while. The weather is so beautiful this weekend! There's a map of the United States painted on the blacktop. This is as close we will get to going to Florida for Spring Break! :-)
And, finally, be sure to check back tomorrow for the details of the very first fresh picked whimsy blog give-away! Hooray!
