Finally got around to completing this project and i just love how it turned out! Do you remember this spice carousel? It was my Nana's. She was an amazing cook, but when my grandfather retired, she retired from cooking, too! They went out to dinner almost every night. So, when we sold my grandfather's house and went through their things, i just couldn't part with this spice carousel and i knew exactly what i wanted to do with it. And, it had nothing to do with cooking!
If you're a crafty girl too, you probably have a bin/box/shelf of glitter containers, too. Mine was so disorganized and i was always spilling the bottles that never quite closed up tight once i had opened them. Next time you drop into your neighborhood goodwill, thrift store or antique mall, see if you can't find one. I know i've seen them in all different sizes, colors and styles. This is how i repurposed mine...
The bottles were really dirty with the residue of these old spices.
I laid newspaper down on the table to catch the excess glitter and ease clean up! Griffin helped me use our kitchen funnel to pour the glitter into each bottle. It was a fun project for us to do together. The extra hands were helpful!
